Jayne’s approach

A safe, private space to explore what may be weighing on you.

Hello, I’m Jayne. I’ve been a counsellor since 2007 and I’m based in Plymouth. I run a private practice offering face-to-face counselling, with telephone, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and home visits considered where appropriate.

As a private practitioner, I have worked with many different issues and many different life stories. My aim is to offer a safe and private space where you can explore personal experiences, problems or feelings in a relaxed, confidential manner.

Counselling can feel daunting at first, especially if you have not spoken to someone before. You do not need to arrive with everything neatly explained. The work begins by gently noticing what is happening for you, what has led you here and what kind of support may feel useful.

My background includes work in care, acute and mental health, autism, domestic abuse, children and adults. This helps me support people with complex lives, difficult histories and situations that may not fit into one simple category.

Professional focus

Experienced in domestic abuse, child support, trauma and neurodiversity.

Jayne’s work includes support for domestic abuse, children and young people, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, autism, anxiety, addiction, depression, family issues, panic attacks, low self-esteem and emotional abuse.

Rather than treating people as a list of symptoms, Jayne’s counselling gives space to understand the whole person: their relationships, history, pressures, strengths and hopes for change.

Therapeutic style

A mix of techniques shaped around the person in front of Jayne.

Jayne uses a mix of therapeutic approaches to help clients move from feeling stuck towards finding and connecting with their inner strengths. This may include person-centred, psychodynamic, integrative, mindfulness, behavioural, child counselling, Gestalt and sand tray-informed work.

The focus is always on creating a confidential relationship where you can speak openly, feel respected and begin exploring what change could look like for you.
